I didn’t find Balabac Islands on Instagram.
No trending reels.
No crowded travel guides.
No influencers posing on the same beach.
And maybe that’s exactly why it felt so unreal.
Getting there wasn’t easy.
Flights, long drives, boat transfers… and at one point, I genuinely questioned if it was worth it.
But the moment I stepped onto that island…
Everything went quiet.
No noise. No crowds. No distractions.
Just white sand, impossibly clear water, and a kind of silence I hadn’t felt in a long time.
I flew into Puerto Princesa.

From there:
It wasn’t convenient.
But that’s what keeps this place untouched.
Not everyone is willing to come this far.
When I first stepped onto Onok Island…
I stopped walking.
Because I couldn’t process what I was seeing.
The sand was almost too white.
The water too clear.
No beach clubs. No loud music.
Just nature — untouched and raw.
Most beaches are beautiful.
But they’re rarely quiet.
Here… it’s different.
You hear:
And after a while, even your thoughts slow down.
There were moments where I genuinely lost track of time.
No notifications. No schedule.
Just swimming, walking, sitting.
At one point, I just lay on the sand, looking at the sky.
And for the first time in a long time… I wasn’t thinking about anything else.
No nightlife here.
No bars trying to pull you in.
Just quiet evenings, simple food, and conversations that feel real.
I met a small group of travelers — no formal introductions, no expectations.
Just stories.
This isn’t a place you visit for entertainment.
It’s a place you visit to disconnect.
Accommodation here is simple — and that’s part of the charm.

One thing I learned while traveling — experiences sell out fast 👇

I always book in advance to avoid last-minute disappointment.
Each island feels untouched in its own way.
This isn’t that kind of place.
Disconnect is part of the experience.
You don’t need much here.
I didn’t come here looking for something deep.
But Balabac…
It stripped everything down.
No distractions. No noise.
Just you.
And in that simplicity… you start seeing things clearly again.
If you’re thinking about solo travel…
Skip the crowded places.
Find the ones that take effort to reach.
Go to Balabac.
Because sometimes… the best places are the ones no one talks about.
